Dog Walking
Dwr Cymru Welsh Water (DCWW) have been in touch in regards to confusion around dog walking around the construction site in Hailey Park. Health & Safety signage was initially put in place by Morgan Sidnall, the contractors which said dogs must be kept on leads. However, DCWW has addressed this with the contractor has agreed that this did not need to be in place and this signage has been removed.
There is no restriction regarding dogs on leads as part of the work, but we do kindly ask that dog walkers take extra care when walking past the working area and follow the current laws that protect public rights of way. There is a temporary footpath created while the temporary compound is in place – this is to encourage walkers to Llandaff divert around the temporary compound so that they are not impacted by the traffic setting up our main compound.
Bilingual Signage
Concerns have been raised regarding signage not being bilingual. The signage issued by Morgan Sindall isn’t required to be bilingual. All DCWW issued signage is bilingual. However, there will work be with Morgan Sindall to replace these signs to satisfy the community’s request.
Community Van
The community van is in the park today, and will be tomorrow and Friday. However, from next week a member of the community team PW will be based in the site compound office a couple of days a week.
DCWW have not committed to taking the community van to the park every day – this is based on the number of visits to the van, balanced with complaints about its presence more generally. The maintained presence of the community and project teams on site will ensure there are opportunities for the public engage with DCWW throughout the duration of the work.
DCWW are also working through a proposal for holding regular onsite meetings with residents to update on the progress of the work.
CCTV surveillance
There is signage in place which clearly states that DCWW is undertaking CCTV recording and monitoring in the area for the purposes of the prevention, reduction and detection of crime, the safety of its personnel and third parties and monitoring for interference with its rights to undertake works in the area. Further recording may take place using body worn video, handheld cameras or similar in the event that individuals are placing themselves or others at risk or interfering with rights to undertake work. Recorded footage may be shared with the Police or used for the purpose of legal proceedings.
These works are in the early days and communication is key to ensure that issues are addressed quickly and effectively. If you experience issues you can contact [email protected] or [email protected].
